Mark “Showtime” Wedderburn defeated Neil “Real Deal” Berry (6-5) with a side naked choke at “TFC II” (The Fight Club) based out of Edmonton, Alberta on March 7^th. 

Berry brought on his grappling game and made several submission attempts, but wasn’t having too much luck.  After several minutes of scrambling, Wedderburn couldn’t quite secure a full mount, but was able to slip in a few some elbows and punches to Berry’s face.   Wedderburn won with 10 seconds left in the first round with a side naked choke.

Wedderburn defeated Joel Davis with vicious strikes to the head from the mount position. Wedderburn won by TKO (referee stoppage) at 1:10 of round 2.

Congratulations to Mark Bocek for his recent win at UFC 79 - Nemesis. Mark defeated Doug Evans with a unanimous decision scoring 29-28 by all three judges.

Preparing for a fight usually takes several weeks – sometimes months to do.   Training, dieting, conditioning ……. What do you do when you get a call in the wee hours of the morning and asked to “fill-in” for a fighter for the following day?
 

If you’re Liz Posener, you accept it with a smile.
 

With barely enough time to even tell her family and friends, Liz Posener received a call to fill in for a fight in “Lord of the Cage” and was off to Anacortes, Washington the following morning.   Arriving almost 3 hours late for weigh-ins, Liz was ready to fight.
 

Her opponent was Brenda Brown  After several punches and kicks exchanged between the two, Liz pulled guard and went for an armbar, but was unable to fully execute it - as they got caught in the ropes.    After re-starting in the center of the ring, they continued to battle it out.   Shortly after, Liz got mount delivering a flurry of punches and elbows to Brenda’s face, and finished it off with an armbar with only 1 second left in the round.
 

It’s true what they say:  “Success comes through being prepared.”

Congratulations to Peni Taufa'ao for his win at the "Island Warriors Fighting Championships" on August 4th.


Peni controlled most of the fight standing up and ended with a unanimous decision win over Lean Gumboc.
